" Truth, Honor and Respect of the Night Watch" -----
"As death awakens so do I"
" The spiritual paths is only obtained by Knowledge"

Quoted : by Bawon Samedi, Simiyte, Lakwa, Limbo, Krimmel and Brav

Vodoun is an ancient tradition that transcends race, class and gender. All whom the deities calls or who needs their powerful force in their lives are welcome. Haiti is not where the Vodoun religion was born, nor is it where it reached its highest pinnacle of philosophical, ritual and theological development. The Vodoun religion is estimated to have existed for more than 10,000+ years, having its ancient roots in Egypt, East Africa, Asia Minor (ancient Turkey), Syria, and in ancient Afro-matrilineal Ionia later known as Greece" where the African, Queen mothers established their powerful theocratic empires. At its height, these African, matriarchal empires reigned for more than 4,000 years. Within the past decade the Vodoun religion has experienced a powerful revival in the world. As a result, there is a growing demand for a more accurate portrayal of this powerful ancestral tradition.

Vodou exists in different forms and variations. It is practiced throughout the Haiti, Caribbean, Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Columbia, Mexico, U.S. and many other countries in Latin America. Whether it is referred to as Haitian, Palo, Obeah, Santeria, Regla de Ocha, Umbada, Lukumi, Quimbanda, Candomble, La Regla Lucum or Orisha, it is still Vodou.

The capitalization of the Europeans tradition and morality, the cinema-graphics industry of Hollywood and the lust of profit from early slave trade to modern day movies has provided a grave misconception that Vodou implies all black African religions and practices are associated with black magic, sorcery and witchcraft. To add insult to injury the "Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics" by James Hastings (page640 v . XII) adds: "Voodoo is devil - worship and fetishism brought from the Gold Coast of Africa..... Its chief sacrifice is a girl child, referred to by the initiates as " the goat without horns" When a child is not available, a white kid (goat) takes its place. excepting at the great semi - annual festival when the "goat" is drugged, killed and eaten, black dogs, cocks and hen are cruelly sacrificed by being slashed so that their bowels fall out. There is a regular priesthood to intimidate and rob the devotees....."

With this ignorant prejudices the term Voodoo (Vodou) has haunted and horrified our society with disgust, prejudice and imagery of devil worship. Vodou is feared because it is not well understood and remains a mystery to scholars; so it therefore must be bad according to Western standards.

Voodoo spelled Vodou prefix "vo" means "introspection" and the suffix dou or do means "into the unknown". Also its other meaning, Vodou is a way of life, the Fon meaning "Spirit". Vodou is "Ancestor Worship" respecting the Elders and the Ancestors, religion healing, education and respect for everything that exists in the universe.

"Half education is more dangerous than no education"

This is not a chat room or social club! But for serious people who want Vodou to play a greater part in their lives.

"The World of Darkness is a world of cold, thoughtless, time that is reality, not because of it's darkness, but because of the shadows cast by the people who are suppose to be light!
